Business Operations & Data Apprentice

About VEST Energy:

Decarbonising electricity is essential to cutting global emissions. To achieve 100% renewable generation, electricity grids need large-scale battery storage. VEST Energy is a clean-tech trading business dedicated to accelerating the build-out of battery storage assets. We help organisations understand the business case, develop their projects, and bring their assets to trading markets.

We’re looking for two Data Apprentices to join VEST Energy — one in Finance and one in Operations. Both roles are heavily data-focused and designed to give you hands-on experience while completing QA’s Data Essentials Level 3 Apprenticeship. We’re looking for someone who is self-driven, proactive, and comfortable working independently while staying connected with the team virtually.

PLEASE NOTE: This role is fully remote, but we are looking for applicants based in the Newcastle area.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations support (Operations role): Scheduling meetings, taking action notes, and tracking project progress. Submitting operational documentation to National Grid. Monitoring shared inboxes and responding professionally
  • General office & data tasks: Updating CRM systems and maintaining data quality. Supporting sales processes and tracking actions. Collaborating with team members to meet deadlines

You’ll develop the ability to:

  • Extract, clean and analyse business data
  • Use Excel and Power BI to present insights clearly
  • Spot trends and patterns that support better decisions
  • Communicate findings in a clear, practical way
  • Maintain data quality and accuracy in line with legislation

Skills we value:

  • Clear communication
  • An interest in renewable energy
  • Customer care and professionalism
  • Initiative and willingness to learn
  • IT confidence
  • Good organisation
  • Problem-solving
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and stay motivated in a remote setting

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
