About The RoleLecturer in Computer ScienceQA Higher EducationLocation: Solent University Campus, SouthamptonHours: Up to 14 hours per week (Tuesday–Thursday)Rate: £50 per hour, Mode: Face-to-face, daytime teachingAbout the RoleJoin the QAHE Solent Pathway College team and inspire international students as they progress through Levels 3 and 4 of their Computer Science pathway. You’ll deliver dynamic, confidence-building teaching that helps learners transition into UK higher education while strengthening their subject and academic skills. This role is ideal for educators who enjoy guiding diverse groups, bringing real-world examples into the classroom, and shaping future tech talent.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging, well-structured classes and seminars that motivate learners and foster academic growth.Ensure all teaching content aligns with programme requirements, learning outcomes, and faculty standards.Prepare, set, and assess formative and summative assessments within established deadlines.Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the wider coordination and continuous improvement of modules and student support.Use the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to post materials, communicate clearly with students, and support digital learning.What We’re Looking For
- A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Computer Science–related discipline.
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, BEd, PGCert, MA TESOL, or DELTA (HEA Fellowship preferred).
- Subject expertise in UX, Networks & Security, Web Technologies, Python programming, and database design/SQL.
- Strong understanding of UX design theory, interaction design, research methods and user testing.
- Experience teaching international students and supporting their academic transition (preferred but not essential).
- Confident use of VLE systems and digital tools to enhance classroom learning.
- Knowledge of high-quality academic delivery, assessment techniques, and internal/external quality assurance expectations.
- Ability to plan effective classes, organise teaching resources, and adapt methods to suit diverse learning needs.
- Ideally, a Cisco Network Security certification (e.g., CCNA Security or higher).
