Bensons for Beds is a UK-based retailer specialising in beds, mattresses, and bedroom furniture, helping customers improve their sleep through quality products and expert in-store advice.
About the role:
As a DevOps Apprentice within the Quality Assurance Team, you will support system changes by creating and executing test cases, scripts, and plans, and documenting results. You’ll collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to resolve defects found during functional and UAT testing, while driving continuous improvement of testing processes and maintaining templates and tools. The role also involves coordinating testing across multiple projects to ensure smooth delivery of high quality solutions.
Responsibilities:
- User support and training: Assist with user queries and provide guidance on application functionality during Early Life Support, and support 2nd/3rd line teams when needed. Contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions to improve user understanding.
- Documentation & reporting: Create and maintain accurate test documentation, including test cases, scripts, and defect logs.
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance testing processes and tools, supporting overall quality improvements.
- Collaboration & project support: Coordinate testing activities across projects, validate solutions through functional and UAT testing, and ensure defects are communicated and resolved. Work closely with cross-functional teams to align testing with business objectives.
Essential skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in test documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of software development and testing processes.
- Effective time management and task prioritisation.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.
Additionally the following experience would be beneficial:
- Exposure to test automation tools and frameworks.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Basic project coordination skills, including task tracking and progress reporting.
- Awareness of risk, issue, and change management processes.
- Experience in functional testing and user acceptance testing.
Entry requirements:
- A Level in STEM subject, or
- BTEC Diploma in STEM subject, or
- Level 3 IT apprenticeship
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
