IT Desktop Support Apprentice

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join our IT Support team based in our Bristol office.

This IT apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to gain a formal IT qualification (Microsoft Azure Cloud Support Specialist Level 3 Apprenticeship) as well as receiving paid on-the-job training.

Introducing the IT team:

First-class IT systems are absolutely key to the success of any business in today's commercial world and the legal sector is no exception. Our IT team have worked exceptionally hard to enable our business to adapt fully to the virtual/hybrid working world and we're very lucky to have such a great team. Womble Bond Dickinson prides itself on being at the forefront of technological advancements within the legal profession, something we've become so well known for. To remain competitive in our markets, and to continue supporting our growth strategies, our team of dedicated IT professionals have a key role to play, ensuring the integrity of the IT infrastructure, development of new systems and excellent support to all of our employees, and clients.

So what's the role?

The role sits within the IT Services function and supports the Level 2 Support team in providing high quality technical support to colleagues across the firm.

The apprentice will develop practical capability across deskside support, endpoint troubleshooting, Microsoft 365 support, mobile device support, printing/scanning, video conferencing / AV support, user access issues, incident resolution and knowledge management. The role will work closely with the Service Desk, Level 2 analysts, infrastructure colleagues and IT training teams to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and colleagues receive a consistent service.

The role will also support project activity where Level 2 involvement is required, including hardware refreshes, office changes, application deployments, device configuration and migrations. The apprenticeship route is intended to combine structured learning with supervised, hands-on experience in a live professional services IT environment.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who brings the right attitude, curiosity, and foundation to grow into the role—not someone who already has years of experience. What matters most is a genuine interest in IT, clear and friendly communication, and the ability to follow guidance with care. You should feel comfortable tackling simple troubleshooting tasks, logging issues accurately, and knowing when to ask for help.

Professionalism is key too, especially when it comes to handling equipment responsibly and respecting data security. If you bring these qualities, we can teach you the rest.

Desirable experience:

  • Previous customer service (any sector), IT service desk, office support or technical troubleshooting experience.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, Windows 11, Intune-managed devices, printers or mobile phones.

  • Experience working in a professional services, legal, regulated or client-facing environment.

  • Evidence of self-directed learning, practical problem solving, or interest in technology outside formal education.

  • Occasional travel to other WBD office locations may be required for training, induction, project work or team support.

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject
