What are we looking for?
We are looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and mission-driven volunteer who can bring strong technical expertise and thoughtful strategic insight to our fully virtual non-profit.
First and foremost, the volunteer should have a solid foundation in cybersecurity principles and best practices. This includes experience with risk assessment, vulnerability management, data protection, and website security hardening—particularly in WordPress environments. Knowledge of secure hosting, firewalls, backups, and monitoring tools is essential, as well as an awareness of evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate approaches security proactively and understands the importance of protecting volunteer and community data in a virtual organisation.
Equally important is experience in AI workflow design, automation, and digital process optimisation. The volunteer should be comfortable mapping out organisational workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and designing AI-supported automations that reduce repetitive tasks and improve internal operations. Familiarity with workflow automation platforms and a willingness to experiment, iterate, and refine processes will enable them to build sustainable systems that support long-term organisational growth.
Strong WordPress CMS management skills are also essential. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with theme and plugin configuration, performance tuning, security enhancements, backups, and general site maintenance. Experience troubleshooting website issues, identifying outdated components, and ensuring the platform is both user-friendly and secure will be highly valuable.
A background in SEO and digital visibility strategies is another important asset. The volunteer should understand keyword research, on-page optimisation, search-console tools, and accessibility considerations. This knowledge will enable them to help improve our site's presence, expand outreach, and ensure that our mission reaches the audiences who need it most.
Beyond technical expertise, the volunteer should embody key personal qualities that align with our organisational values. These include strong communication skills, the ability to explain technical concepts in clear language, and a collaborative mindset that supports working with diverse team members. They should be organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing their time effectively in a virtual environment. Because we operate remotely, reliability, accountability, and proactive communication are essential.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cybersecurity, AI Workflow & Digital Systems Specialist to help strengthen and streamline our virtual non-profit operations. As we operate entirely online, protecting our WordPress platform—along with volunteer and community data—is a top priority. This role will play a crucial part in making our digital environment safer, more efficient, and more impactful.
Qisetna is an award-winning initiative which started in 2013 in London. Principally, our purpose is to contribute to the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of the communities impacted by displacement and conflict. Our main focus has been the global diaspora from Syria.

By building automated workflows for onboarding, data handling, content updates, and reporting, the specialist will help us create sustainable, scalable systems that support our mission.
In the area of cybersecurity, the volunteer will ensure that our website, data, and digital infrastructure are protected from threats. This includes evaluating vulnerabilities, implementing best practices, monitoring system integrity, and developing a security strategy tailored to a small yet growing online organisation. Their guidance will help us safeguard sensitive information and maintain the trust of our community.
The role also includes CMS (WordPress) Management, where the specialist will maintain and optimise our website. Tasks may include updating plugins and themes, improving site performance, managing backups, and implementing security enhancements to keep our platform stable and reliable.
Finally, the volunteer will support SEO & Digital Visibility, helping us reach more individuals who could benefit from our services. By optimising pages, improving search rankings, and ensuring content is accessible and discoverable, the specialist will contribute directly to expanding our impact.
