Data Centre Engineer - Linux, Networking, Colocation
Data Centre Engineer – HFT ColoQuant Capital is working with a high-performance trading firm looking to hire a Data Centre Engineer with strong Linux exposure to support critical infrastructure across London and EMEA sites. This is a hands-on role combining physical infrastructure, Linux-based provisioning and scripting. You'll be working in live environments where uptime matters, supporting deployments, troubleshooting issues and improving how infrastructure is built and maintained. What you'll be doing
- Supporting buildout and maintenance of data centre and colocation environments
- Deploying and configuring servers using Linux and PXE-based provisioning
- Rack, stack and cable server and network hardware
- Troubleshooting hardware, connectivity and OS-level issues
- Writing scripts (Bash/Python) to automate deployment and operational tasks
- Managing inventory, hardware logistics and site coordination
- Working with internal teams and external providers to deliver infrastructure projects
- Maintaining high standards across documentation, security and site operations
- Supporting remote sites across EMEA when requiredWhat we're looking for
- Experience in a data centre, infrastructure or colocation environment
- Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working at the command line
- Scripting ability (Bash or Python) for automation and tooling
- Solid understanding of networking basics (switching, routing, L2/L3 troubleshooting)
- Experience with fibre and copper cabling, installation and fault finding
- Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, including Cisco and Arista
- Organised, proactive and able to work independently in fast-moving environments
