Computer Science and IT Teacher - Bedfordshire

Quantum Scholars are currently working with a fantastic secondary school in Bedfordshire who are seeking a qualified and experienced Computer Science and IT Teacher to join them immediately. This is a long-term position running until the end of the academic year.

The school is a co-educational secondary with a sixth form, known for its commitment to academic excellence, personal development and strong pastoral care. They deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum across KS3, GCSE and A-Level, offering a broad range of subjects. The school has been rated "Good" by Ofsted.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Computer Science and IT lessons across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5.

  • Prepare pupils for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring strong progress and attainment.

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including high-achieving students and those with SEND.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes excellent behaviour for learning.

  • Assess, record and report on student progress in line with school policies.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support pupil development.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and the continued development of the Computer Science and IT department.

  • Attend departmental meetings, parents' evenings and relevant school events.

  • Uphold the school's safeguarding policies and maintain high professional standards at all times.

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • A degree in Computer Science, IT or a closely related subject.

  • Proven experience teaching Computer Science and/or IT at secondary level.

  • Strong subject knowledge, including programming (e.g. Python), algorithms, data representation and computer systems.

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE (and ideally A-Level) examinations.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners.

  • A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • The right to work in the UK.
