Location: London – Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Rate: £460 per day inside IR35

Duration: 6 to 12 months initially

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join a high-performing team delivering cutting-edge data solutions within a dynamic retail environment. This role will focus on designing and evolving scalable data architectures, enabling advanced analytics, and supporting data-driven decision making.

You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and wider architecture teams to deliver robust, future-ready data models and platforms using modern cloud technologies such as Snowflake, DBT, and AWS/Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures and models to support business requirements
  • Triage new data requirements, assess impacts, and estimate changes to existing data models
  • Develop and enhance conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Act as the custodian of data modelling standards, ensuring governance and best practices across teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, analytics) to deliver optimal data solutions
  • Ensure alignment of data models with overall architecture strategy and long-term data vision
  • Document, manage, and communicate data models effectively across stakeholders
  • Promote best practices in data modelling methodologies (3NF, Dimensional, Data Vault)
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify opportunities for improved structure and business value
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and innovation across the wider data community

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Modeller working with complex datasets
  • Strong expertise in data warehousing and end-to-end data architecture
  • Hands-on experience with modelling methodologies such as 3NF, Dimensional Modelling, and Data Vault
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure)
  • Strong understanding of data engineering ecosystems, including tools such as DBT and Airflow
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with AI/ML or Generative AI technologies
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools such as Power BI or MicroStrategy
  • Experience with cloud migration programmes or large-scale data transformation initiatives
