📍 Manchester (3 days onsite)

Our client is seeking experienced Solution Architects to support large-scale digital transformation and modernisation initiatives within a complex enterprise environment. This role is focused on designing scalable, secure, and high-performing end-to-end technology solutions across legacy and cloud-native platforms. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and delivery leadership to shape architecture strategy and guide implementation across modern application ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end technology solutions covering applications, integrations, infrastructure, security, and data
  • Produce high-level and detailed architecture designs, diagrams, interface specifications, and solution documentation
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards
  • Evaluate technology options and recommend appropriate architecture approaches
  • Support modernisation and migration of legacy platforms into containerised microservices architectures
  • Collaborate with business leaders, Product Owners, delivery teams, and engineers to shape solution direction
  • Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and solution assurance activities
  • Guide engineering teams on implementation best practices, design patterns, and architecture standards
  • Support Agile delivery and DevOps adoption across engineering programmes

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years’ experience in Solution Architecture within enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of legacy technologies and platforms including mainframes
  • Experience modernising legacy applications into cloud-native/containerised microservices solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Data Mesh principles
  • Hands-on experience across technologies such as:
  • .NET MVC
  • Java
  • Angular
  • React
  • REST APIs
  • Event-driven architecture
  • Strong experience with API and microservices security implementation
  • Experience with cloud hosting concepts and modern cloud architectures
  • Hands-on experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of secure interoperability standards, architecture patterns, and engineering governance

Soft Skills & Domain Experience

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capability
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments
  • Knowledge of pensions/annuities or UK workplace pensions highly desirable
