Platform Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a Platform Engineer to join a Tier 1 Bank's high-performing Engineering team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and enhancing scalable software solutions that underpin business, platform, and technology capabilities for both customers and internal users.
You will work across the full software development lifecycle, leveraging modern engineering practices to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable software solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, engineering) to define requirements and deliver aligned solutions
- Contribute to architectural decisions and solution design strategies
- Participate in code reviews and promote best practices in code quality and knowledge sharing
- Ensure solutions are secure, performant, and maintainable through adherence to engineering standards
- Implement testing strategies to improve code reliability and quality
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Helm, GitLab)
- Experience working in DevSecOps environments, including integrating security across the software development lifecycle
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript
- AWS experience is essential
This is a Permanent role based in Manchester/Knutsford with Hybrid working (2 days in the office).
