IT Support Engineer (1st & 2nd Line)
Newbury | £40,000 – £45,000 per year | Full-time
About the Role
We’re looking for a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused IT Support Engineer to provide 1st and 2nd line support across hardware, software, and systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be a key part of ensuring technology runs smoothly and efficiently for users both in-house and externally.
What You’ll Do
- Provide 1st & 2nd line IT support for hardware and software issues
- Administer user accounts, emails, file servers, access, remote logins, Wi-Fi, and printers
- Support users via phone, email, and desk-side assistance
- Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware & software (PCs, servers, peripherals)
- Produce technical and user-friendly documentation
- Monitor and maintain systems, including routine updates and patches
- Manage network cabling, Wi-Fi, and switch configuration
- Liaise with suppliers and external organisations to resolve issues
- Support voice systems and purchase IT equipment when required
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Previous IT support experience (1st/2nd line or similar)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, applications, and cloud tools (Exchange, Azure, Intune, Entra)
Understanding of networking, Active Directory, virtualisation, and system management
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Great communication — able to explain tech in plain English
Proactive approach to learning new technologies
