We’re looking for a Data Annotator to support e-commerce initiatives within a growing product catalog and data organisation. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, data scientists, and product stakeholders to ensure high-quality taxonomy design that enables search, discovery, ML models, and downstream catalog initiatives.

  • Perform detailed data analysis (using Excel, Google Sheets, and/or scripting languages) to identify exact and fuzzy matches across vocabularies
  • Research internal and external sources to enrich taxonomy nodes
  • Support cross-taxonomy mapping, vertical expansion, and front-end taxonomy design
  • Collaborate with engineering to support model understanding through annotation and evaluation of model outputs
  • Implement taxonomy updates in line with governance guidelines and standards
  • Provide regular status updates on progress, risks, issues, and opportunities to stakeholders

Essential:

  • 2+ years’ experience developing taxonomies and/or ontologies for front-end and back-end systems
  • Experience building taxonomies or product classification structures for e-commerce
  • Experience researching and defining taxonomy using established standards
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for structured, high-quality data
  • Confident communicator able to explain taxonomy principles and standards to varied audiences
  • Proactive, self-starting approach with strong ownership of workstreams
  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally and building relationships with partners

Nice to Have:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or similar
  • Experience analysing large datasets using SQL or other query languages
  • Experience building taxonomies to support machine learning classification systems
  • Familiarity with AI tools, prompt engineering, or supporting ML workflows
