CompTIA Tech+ and A+ Tutor / Instructor
We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging CompTIA Tech+ and A+ Tutor to deliver foundational IT training and guide learners through both the CompTIA Tech+ and CompTIA A+ certification curricula. This role is crucial for equipping individuals with essential IT literacy and preparing them for successful certifications and entry-level IT careers. This is a 26-month contract position. Working within the youth or Further Education and Training (FET) sector is a preferable background for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, concise, and engaging instruction on all CompTIA Tech+ and CompTIA A+ syllabus domains.
- Explain fundamental IT concepts, including hardware, software, networking, databases, and security, as well as emerging technologies like AI and cloud basics, and more advanced topics covered in CompTIA A+ such as operating systems, mobile devices, troubleshooting, and operational procedures.
- Develop and adapt teaching materials, exercises, and practice assessments to facilitate learning for both Tech+ and A+ certifications.
- Provide individualised support, answer questions, and offer constructive feedback to students preparing for either certification.
- Employ a variety of teaching methodologies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
- Provide individual and group support to participants, addressing their specific learning needs and challenges.
- Facilitate practical activities, discussions, and exercises to reinforce learning.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to participants to support their progress.
- Ensure all programme content is delivered accurately and in line with the requirements of the relevant awarding bodies.
- Assess student comprehension and readiness for the CompTIA Tech+ and CompTIA A+ certification exams.
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Evening work may be required to support training schedules and/or events.
Qualifications:
- A relevant qualification in teaching and/or training is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering training or educational programmes, ideally to young people.
- Proven experience working with or teaching foundational IT concepts and entry-level IT support skills.
- Prior experience in teaching, tutoring, or corporate training is highly desirable, with a preference for experience in the youth or FET sector.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in curriculum delivery.
Essential Criteria:
- A relevant qualification or demonstrable experience in delivering training or educational programmes, ideally to young people.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the CompTIA Certification Pathway
- Experience or a strong interest in IT and Cyber Skills development.
- A solid understanding of cyber security risks and best practices relevant to young people.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- Proficiency in using IT and online learning platforms.
- A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their development.
- Legally eligible to work in Ireland and/or Northern Ireland, with a willingness to undergo Garda Vetting and/or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) background clearance as required.
- Flexibility to work evenings as required.
- Full clean driving license required.
Desirable Criteria:
- Formal certification in CompTIA Tech+
- Formal certification in CompTIA A+ or higher.
- Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of different learning styles and effective teaching strategies for young people
