System Operations Engineer (Hiring Immediately)

We’re on the lookout for a Senior SysOps Engineer to join a high-performing team working across a complex hybrid infrastructure environment. This 6-month contract (with view to extend) is based in Bristol , following a hybrid model (2 days/week on-site) .

This role is ideal for an experienced Systems Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment and has a strong focus on automation, infrastructure as code, and operational excellence.

🔧 What You'll Be Doing:

• Building and deploying infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
• Troubleshooting complex issues and implementing long-term solutions
• Driving system changes and improving efficiency through automation
• Collaborating with architects and PMs to deliver projects on time
• Ensuring security, operations, and procedures are rigorously followed

🧠 What You’ll Bring:

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS
• Expert-level Linux administration (CentOS/Red Hat)
• Proven ability in Puppet (module writing essential)
• Familiarity with Ansible or Chef
• Experience with VMware and system monitoring tools (e.g. Opsview, Nagios)
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, NTP, TCP/IP)
• Comfortable with Apache
• Strong scripting in Bash, Python, Puppet
• Ability to read Java exceptions and debug effectively
• Strong analytical and ticket prioritisation skills

📍 Location: Hybrid – Bristol office 2 days per week

⏳ Contract: 6 months (extension highly likely)
