DevSecOps Engineer (Kubernetes / GCP)
- Location: Andover / Tidworth (with travel to Bulford, Warminster, Corsham as required)
- Engagement: PAYE (FTC or Umbrella PAYE)
- Clearance: Current SC required
- Duration: 6 months (2 positions available)
- On-site: 3 days per week (non-negotiable)
- Start: January 2026
- Pay: £450 - £500 per day (Inside IR35) via Umbrella provider
RT Consulting is expanding our Defence capability and seeking two experienced SC Cleared DevSecOps Engineers to join a high-impact transformation programme supporting a defence project focused on secure hosting and cloud modernisation roadmaps. These roles sit at the heart of a strategic re-platforming effort, moving from a VMware VCF/Aria estate towards a more scalable and secure GCP (Google Cloud)-aligned environment.
This is meaningful work with purpose, modernising defences digital backbone and enabling operational capability across the Defence landscape.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of a blended team, you will play a key role in the build, automation, containerisation, and secure deployment of applications and infrastructure in a highly classified environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, maintaining, and optimising CI/CD pipelines
- Administering Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and containerisation frameworks
- Supporting migration and integration of services into a GCP-aligned architecture
- Delivering automation via IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, scripting)
- Supporting secure release and deployment processes
- Working hands-on with defence-owned equipment within structured environments
- Diagnosing issues across cloud, infrastructure, networks, and application layers
- Ensuring security is embedded across the DevSecOps lifecycle
What You’ll Bring
To succeed, you’ll need to be a confident DevSecOps practitioner with strong delivery instincts and the ability to operate effectively in a classified Defence Digital environment.
Essential experience:
- Current SC clearance
- Proven DevSecOps engineering experience within secure or complex environments
- Strong Kubernetes (K8s) and containerisation experience
- Experience with GCP or willingness to operate within a GCP-aligned environment
- Hands-on CI/CD tooling — Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab
- IaC skills (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalent)
- Solid scripting capability (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Practical understanding of secure-by-design and cloud security practices
- Ability to work on-site for 3 days a week (mandatory)
