Data Scientist
VUE are industry leaders both in Video Telematics and Insurtech. Our solutions are used every day by some of the UK's biggest fleets and insurers, helping them to improve vehicle safety, reduce road risk and ultimately save lives.
With this at the forefront of everything we do, we are a business that is continually growing and looking to develop. Our team is made up of like-minded, driven individuals, who support each other, are proactive and work together to continually progress whilst striving to provide our customers with exceptional service.
Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a proactive, business-focused Data Scientist to join our team and help us unlock the full value of our video telematics data. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams to deliver actionable insights, build predictive models, and support data-driven decision-making across the business.
This role is ideal for someone who’s curious, self-directed, and thrives on turning data into real-world impact — not just building the models but making sure they’re used.
We would love to welcome you to our office, working hours of Monday to Friday, 9am- 5pm.
Your responsibilities day to day will be...
- Work hands-on with large-scale telematics datasets (e.g. GPS, accelerometer, vehicle diagnostics, video) to uncover insights and opportunities.
- Build and deploy predictive models to support driver behaviour analysis, fleet performance, and product optimisation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into Data Science solutions.
- Take ownership of projects from Idea to Delivery — including data exploration, modelling, validation, and communicating results.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualisations to make insights accessible and actionable.
- Mentor and support a Data Analyst, helping them grow their technical and analytics skills.
- Identify and champion opportunities to improve processes, products, and customer outcomes using data.
- Stay up to date with industry trends in mobility, IoT, and AI, and bring fresh thinking to the team.
- Strong experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning libraries.
- Experience working with time-series, geospatial, sensor or video data — ideally in a telematics, mobility, or IoT context desirable but not essential.
- A self-starter who’s comfortable working independently and pushing projects forward without waiting for direction.
- Experience supporting software development teams with data architecture, pipeline and optimisation.
- Strong communications skills – able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior team members.
- Bonus: experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS), real-time data processing, video telematics or dashboard tools (Plotly).
What can you expect of us?
- A friendly culture that mirrors our proposition to our customers.
- A fast-growing organisation that defines itself as being agile and innovative
- A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
- A hard working, fun, efficient, respectful, positive, supportive, innovative, and ambitious environment
- A commitment to building an environment that welcomes individuals who embrace progressive values and a 'One Team' ethos.
