Job Description Ready to take your infrastructure expertise to the next level? As a Systems Operations Engineer , you’ll play a key role in supporting and maintaining our Linux environment. Reporting into our Head of Infrastructure, you’ll work closely with colleagues in our IT Infrastructure and Software Development teams to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and efficient - whether they’re internal platforms or customer-facing services. This is a hybrid role based at our Crewe head office site, with the flexibility to work from home two days per week. What You’ll Be Doing
- Primary support and maintenance of the group’s Linux estate.
- Additional support and maintenance of the group’s AWS infrastructure.
- Automating infrastructure tasks such as environment builds, scaling, monitoring, and patching.
- Collaborating with Software Development and DevOps teams to meet infrastructure needs.
- Researching and recommending improvements to enhance service levels and efficiency.
- Documenting systems and following change management protocols.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and security standards.
- Proven experience with Linux technologies (Ubuntu, Apache, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Nginx, Postfix, Git)
- Familiarity with configuration tools (Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Ninja)
- Experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, VPC, Route53, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS)
- Scripting skills in Python and Bash
- Solid understanding of IT security fundamentals
- Ability to manage SLAs and prioritise competing requirements
