Head of Security Master and Reference Data (Systematic Hedge Fund)

We’re partnering with a leading quantitative investment firm to hire a Head of Security Master & Reference Data to lead the firm’s enterprise Security Master platform and broader reference data capabilities.

This is a strategic leadership role focused on vision, platform ownership, architecture oversight, and team leadership, rather than hands-on development.

Critically, this role requires deep, long-standing expertise in Security Master systems. We are looking for someone who has designed, built, and operated Security Master platforms at scale and understands the engineering, operational, and business complexities involved in running them effectively.

Candidates with only partial exposure to reference data or limited involvement in Security Master initiatives will not be a fit for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, vision, and long-term roadmap for the firm’s Security Master and Reference Data platforms
• Lead and develop a global engineering team responsible for Security Master architecture, development, and operations
• Oversee the design and evolution of a scalable, high-quality Security Master platform
• Ensure the platform supports accurate instrument modelling, golden copy generation, vendor data integration, and reliable downstream distribution
• Partner closely with engineering, trading, research, and operations stakeholders to deliver robust, business-critical data services
• Drive platform modernization, agile delivery, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in financial services data platforms
• Extensive, hands-on experience designing, building, and leading Security Master systems (essential)
• Deep understanding of the engineering, operational, and business workflows that underpin enterprise Security Master platforms
• Proven experience leading large, cross-functional teams across technology and business stakeholders
• Strong track record delivering complex, firmwide data platform initiatives
