Cumberland Council is seeking an ICT Programme Assistant to join our dynamic Digital Innovation & ICT Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to significant technological improvements across diverse front-line and back-office services, supporting the ongoing disaggregation of the ICT Service following Local Government Reorganisation.

About the Role:

Based within our ICT Programme Management Office, you will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination, management, and delivery of a large-scale and dynamic portfolio of ICT projects. You will facilitate all aspects of programme/project support, maintaining accurate performance information, and contributing to the efficient allocation of resources. You will also have the opportunity to manage specific projects or elements of projects as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery and effective management and governance of the ICT project portfolio.
  • Facilitate programme/project support, maintaining accurate performance and management information.
  • Contribute to the coordination and scheduling of programme/project delivery and departmental resources.
  • Provide administrative support, including data analysis, resource scheduling, reporting, and procurement.
  • Maintain and contribute to the continuous development of Programme Management Office functions and tools.

Essential Criteria:

  • Knowledge and experience of project or programme management techniques and methodologies.
  • NVQ3 in Business Administration/Project Management or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of local government procedures, procurement processes, and experience of working in a change management environment.
  • Experience of working with a variety of customers in commercial and non-commercial environments; experience of developing schedules, plans, and reports to support project delivery.
  • Proficiency in ICT packages including MS Office; knowledge/experience of ServiceNow would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work systematically and effectively prioritise tasks in a pressured delivery environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve through creative thinking.
  • Positive approach to team working.
  • Solution-focused with the ability to resolve challenges through own initiative.
