Location: West / North-West London (Field-based covering major NHS trust hospital sites)

Pay Rate: £19.00 per hour

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (42.5 total hours per week)

  • Mon-Thu: 09:00 - 17:30 | Fri: 09:00 - 16:15

About the Role We are seeking a skilled Technical Service Specialist / Field Service Engineer to join a leading global healthcare diagnostic organization. In this field-based role, you will be providing 1st and 2nd line technical service support across key hospital laboratory sites in the West London region.

You will act as the technical expert-handling everything from planned maintenance and hardware/software upgrades to full instrument installations and emergency repairs on critical diagnostic equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service & Maintenance: Deliver 1st and 2nd line troubleshooting, hardware repairs, and scheduled Planned Maintenance (PM) on laboratory diagnostic systems.

  • Installations & Qualifications: Conduct site inspections, execute installations/deinstallations, and perform IQOQ (Installation Qualification Operation Qualification) procedures.

  • Upgrades & Modifications: Schedule and complete technical service bulletins (TSBs), software updates, and hardware modifications.

  • Training & Mentorship: Provide introductory operational training to key hospital staff post-installation, alongside technical coaching for junior team members.

  • Customer Support: Partner closely with laboratory personnel and internal stakeholder teams to maintain high equipment uptime and customer satisfaction (NPS).

Requirements & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.

  • Technical Experience: Proven track record as a Field Service Engineer or Technical Service Specialist within a regulated environment (Medical Devices, Diagnostics, or Healthcare preferred).

  • System Knowledge: Strong experience with hardware/software diagnostics, analytical tools, and complex electromechanical systems.

  • Site Mobility: Ability to cover key hospital sites across West London (including Charing Cross, St Mary's, Hammersmith, Chelsea & Westminster, Hillingdon, West Middlesex, and Mount Vernon).

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, issue-resolution skills, and confidence working directly with clinical and lab teams.
