Senior Data Engineer
We’re Hiring: Senior Data Engineer (Contract)
Location: London (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office)
Duration: 6 months (possible 12-month extension)
Pay Rate: Inside IR35 (PAYE only)
Reporting To: AVP Data Engineering
Are you a tech-savvy Data Engineer with a passion for innovation and excellence? We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our new team in London to support the definition and delivery of an enterprise data platform.
In this role, you will help the divisional data team (DDT) manage and prioritize data engineering activities, building high-performing pipelines and data warehouses.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Delivery: Design, implement, test, and support data-intensive pipelines.
- Design & Reviews: Prepare technical design specifications and participate in architecture/peer code reviews.
- System Quality: Identify enhancement opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and establish standard operating procedures.
- Compliance & Support: Ensure IT Controls are met and provide technical support/mentorship.
Qualifications & Experience
- Core Tech Stack: Strong experience with Snowflake, MS SQLServer, DBT, and Azure DevOps (or similar CI/CD).
- Data Expertise: Solid understanding of data modeling, curation, orchestration, and ETL tools (e.g., Matillion, SNP Glue, Fivetran).
- Engineering Best Practices: Experience with shell scripting, unit testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
- Soft Skills: Excellent collaboration, communication, and Agile project skills.
Nice to Haves
- BI Tools: PowerBI or Tableau
- Databases/ERP: NoSQL (DynamoDB/Cosmos) or SAP
- Industry: Knowledge of (re)insurance concepts
