Data Analyst
Location: Coventry (On-site, 5 days per week)
Contract: 6 Month Contract (Potential to become permanent)
Salary: £25-50k depending on experience
About The Company
They are one of the UK's leading suppliers of copper tubes and associated products, serving industries from plumbing to healthcare. With over a century of trading history and a reputation for innovation, they're embarking on an exciting digital transformation journey - including a new ERP implementation and a renewed focus on data integrity, governance, and business intelligence. Our client is looking for a driven individual who is analytical and detail focused to join the team at the start of their digital transformation journey as a Data Analyst.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves to roll up their sleeves and fix problems at the source. You'll take responsibility for reviewing, cleaning, and improving the accuracy of core business data in preparation for a major ERP system migration. Over time, you'll have the chance to develop your skills in Power BI, data reporting, and data governance - helping to build a stronger, smarter data foundation for the future.
This position will initially be offered on a contract basis with the strong potential to become permanent, offering long-term development and progression, including a Data Analyst apprenticeship (if eligible).
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality & Governance
- Review, validate, and correct data within existing systems (e.g., customer, product, and supplier records).
- Identify incomplete, inaccurate, or inconsistent data and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate across departments (Sales, Finance, Operations) to ensure data ownership and accountability are clear and maintained.
- Support the implementation of future data governance frameworks and policies.
ERP Data Preparation & Migration
- Support data migration efforts as Lawton Tubes transitions to a new ERP system.
- Work with internal teams and external partners to map data fields and ensure clean, structured datasets.
- Help define and disable redundant or unused fields to improve future system performance.
Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Produce and improve business reports in Power BI, Crystal Reports, and other BI tools.
- Collect and consolidate data for environmental, operational, and performance reporting.
- Contribute to a proactive reporting culture that supports decision-making and continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with departmental leads to understand data requirements and drive data accuracy improvements.
- Present findings clearly and confidently, supporting non-technical stakeholders in understanding data insights.
- Contribute ideas to improve data processes and support the company's data transformation strategy.
About You
We're open to a range of experience levels - from a talented graduate with a relevant analytical or STEM degree, to someone with a year or two of experience in data-related roles. What matters most is your attention to detail, logical thinking, and proactive approach.
Essential:
- Strong Excel skills - able to manipulate, clean, and analyse data confidently.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Logical thinker who enjoys problem-solving.
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills (e.g., Power BI, SQL).
Desirable:
- Experience or exposure to BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Crystal Reports, or SQL.
- Understanding of ERP systems or data migration projects.
- Knowledge of data governance principles or data management best practices.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment (advantageous but not essential).
