Google Cloud Engineer - GCP Networking Specialist

My global IT consultancy require and experienced hands-on Google Cloud Networking Engineer who specialises in GCP networking to join their team in London working for a financial organisation

You'll design, build and operate the provisioning engine that turns intent into standardized, compliant networking resources (VPCs, subnets, policy, routing and private connectivity endpoints) at enterprise scale. Working as part of an agile team, you'll contribute to system design, write and validate production code and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions that meet high standards for security, scalability, and operability, while helping shape technical direction, engineering culture, and operational excellence for platform services.

Essential Technical Skill

  • Practical experience with Kubernetes and at least one modern programming language used in platform development (e.g., Go and/or Python)
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform) to provision and manage cloud infrastructure
  • Automation and CI/CD processes with a strong commitment to testing as a core engineering discipline
  • Cloud-native networking constructs (e.g., VPC/VNet design, routing, IPAM, load balancing, DNS, service-to-service connectivity)

Desirable

  • Experience working in financial services or another highly regulated environment where security, controls, and auditability are first-class requirements

Job responsibilities

  • Write, review and maintain production code across the stack, applying sound engineering judgment and quality standards regardless of whether code originates from you, a teammate, or an AI-assisted workflow
  • Contribute to system design discussions and produce clear design/architecture artifacts for services and features; ensure implementation aligns with agreed constraints and non-functional requirements
  • Identify and surface issues proactively and help drive improvements to code quality, observability, and system architecture
  • Participate in operational ownership, including monitoring, incident response support, root-cause analysis, and follow-through on remediation work

The role is based in London and requires you to be on site 5 days a week. So if you have the required skills particularly with GCP then get in touch ASAP to find out more as my client is looking to move quickly and I have interview slots ready to be filled.
