Hybrid Working: Around 3 days on-site, 2 days remote.
Pay Rate: Max £650 per day (Umbrella) (Inside IR35)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (NetDevOps) to design, build, and evolve large-scale enterprise network platforms.

This isn't an operations or "maintenance" role. We need a builder-someone who can jump straight into design and delivery, applying NetDevOps principles to support critical, high-availability services. You'll be bridging the gap between traditional networking and modern cloud-integrated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation: Build and enhance enterprise network infrastructure across data centers, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, OCI)
  • Security First: Implement Palo Alto Firewall policies aligned with Zero Trust principles
  • Traffic Engineering: Optimize complex OSPF and BGP environments for maximum resilience.
  • Automation: Replace manual tasks with Python, Ansible, and Terraform to drive speed and consistency
  • Collaboration: Work alongside Architecture and Cloud teams to ensure solutions are scalable and secure.
  • Modernization: Drive the transition from Legacy systems to VXLAN/EVPN fabrics and SD-WAN technologies.

Essential Technical Skills (The "Must-Haves")

To be successful, you need deep, hands-on expertise in:

  1. Enterprise Network Engineering
    • Complex OSPF & BGP routing.
    • Design of resilient, high-availability traffic flows.
  2. Firewall & Security
    • Extensive experience with Palo Alto Firewalls.
    • Network segmentation and Zero Trust architecture.
  3. Data Center Architecture
    • VXLAN/EVPN, VRF segmentation, and multi-site fabrics.
    • Experience with Arista (or equivalent) and F5 BIG-IP (LTM, APM, ASM).
  4. Automation & NetDevOps
    • Scripting with Python and Ansible.
    • CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

Desirable Skills (The "Nice-to-Haves")

  • Aruba Central/ClearPass
  • SD-WAN technologies
  • SaaS and cloud-delivered WLAN/WiFi solutions
  • Prior experience modernizing large-scale Legacy public sector networks

What This Role Is Not

  • Not an Operations-only or monitoring role.
  • Not a pure SRE role without deep networking roots.
  • Not an Incident Management role without design/build responsibilities.
