Practice Manager - Rastrick Health Centre
Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day management and continued development of Rastrick Health Centre. Ideally, this will be someone with strong management and leadership experience, who can demonstrate a track record of leading teams, improve processes, and deliver positive organisational change.
Working closely with the GP Partners and wider practice team, you will play a key role in ensuring the practice is well managed, effective, and forward-thinking.
Key areas of responsibility will include-
Leadership leading, developing, and supporting our team.
Operational management ensuring the practice runs effectively and efficiently, for example, managing staff rotas, bookkeeping and responding to complaints.
Process improvement identifying and implementing better ways of working.
Systems and digital transformation making effective use of technology, systems and data.
HR and people management recruitment, supporting staff and ensuring appropriate performance management processes are in place.
Compliance and governance maintaining high standards and ensuring the practice meets its regulatory and contractual responsibilities.
Strategic development working with the GP Partners to shape and deliver the future direction of the practice.
Stakeholder e ngagement liaising with other PCN Practice Managers, the ICB, external agencies and contractors.

We are a 2-partner GMS practice with a list size of almost 6,000 patients. We are rated Good by the CQC, have a 4.4-star rating on Google Reviews, and frequently score highly in GP patient surveys. We consistently perform well with QOF targets and are a well-regarded postgraduate training practice.
We have a dedicated, supportive clinical and administrative team with low staff turnover. Payroll is outsourced. External HR support is available.

What we offer

Salary of approximately 32,000 to 38,000 per annum, negotiable depending on hours and experience.

Leadership and people management
Provide strong, visible, and supportive leadership to the practice team.
Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team, creating a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Oversee recruitment, induction, training, appraisal, and staff development.
Manage performance, absence, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters appropriately and fairly.
Ensure effective communication across the practice and work collaboratively with the GP Partners and wider healthcare team.
Identify opportunities to improve team structures, skill mix, and ways of working.
Process improvement and service development
Review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and patient experience.
Lead the implementation of new processes and ways of working from initial ideas through delivery and evaluation.
Use data, feedback, and performance information to identify areas for improvement.
Monitor the impact of changes and ensure improvements are embedded and sustained.
Support the practice in responding positively to changing demands and requirements.
Encourage a culture where staff are engaged in identifying and delivering improvements.
Systems, data and digital transformation
Take a strategic approach to the development and effective use of practice systems and technology.
Identify opportunities for digital transformation and improved use of technology.
Ensure systems are efficient, secure, and fit for purpose.
Promote effective use of data to support decision-making, service improvement, and performance monitoring.
Ensure appropriate information governance, data protection and confidentiality arrangements are maintained.
Work with relevant external organisations and IT providers where required.
HR, risk and compliance
Ensure the practice meets its employment and HR responsibilities.
Maintain appropriate HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
Ensure staff receive appropriate training and development.
Maintain effective risk management systems and ensure risks are identified, recorded, reviewed, and appropriately managed.
Oversee health and safety, infection control, and other relevant workplace responsibilities.
Ensure the practice remains compliant with relevant legislation, contractual requirements, and professional standards.
Maintain appropriate systems for incident reporting, investigation, and learning.
Governance and quality
Support the GP Partners in maintaining effective clinical and organisational governance.
Develop, review and implement practice policies, protocols and procedures.
Monitor compliance and ensure actions arising from audits, incidents and reviews are followed through.
Prepare and contribute to meetings, reports, and practice development plans.
Ensure the practice is appropriately prepared for inspections, reviews, and external requirements.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and accountability.
Operational and financial management
Oversee the effective day-to-day running of the practice.
Monitor staffing levels, resources, and expenditure.
Work with the GP Partners and relevant professional advisers on financial and budgetary matters.
Support the practice in maximising available income and making effective use of resources.
Oversee premises, equipment, health and safety and operational requirements.
Ensure the practice has appropriate contingency and business continuity arrangements.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Previous experience within primary care, the NHS or another healthcare environment would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with strong leadership and management experience from other sectors who can demonstrate transferable skills and a track record of delivering results.
