You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally through the ITEA Manager. Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

    \n
  • \nResponsible for the execution, creation and maintenance of manual test plans.\n
  • \n

  • \nResponsible for the creation and maintenance of automated test frameworks and scripts.\n
  • \n

  • \nProduce test automation strategies, plans and reports in compliance with project guidelines.\n
  • \n

  • \nDefine and manage test environments; create and manage test data; define and manage test tools.\n
  • \n

  • \nIntegrate test automation into the deployment pipeline.\n
  • \n

  • \nSupport estimation of test activities.\n
  • \n

  • \nPromote test automation and best practices within the team and across projects.\n
  • \n

  • \nSupport test team interactions with the wider team and assist in the resolution of issues.\n
  • \n

  • \nSupport the team at formal and artefact reviews as necessary.\n
  • \n

  • \nBe responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement.\n
  • \n

  • \nDefinition of test criteria and acceptance in the Verification and Validation Requirements Matrix (VVRM).\n
  • \n

  • \nAny other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.\n

The OMNIA Training ITEA Test Engineer will provide and deliver ITEA activities across the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) deliverables. Reporting directly to the ITEA Manager, they will be instrumental in delivering the ITEA Plan and ensuring the effective verification, validation, assurance, and acceptance of services and capabilities across the programme.

\n

This role requires a systems-thinking mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability work in a multidisciplinary engineering team in a complex and evolving environment. Given the programme’s focus on modelling and simulation, familiarity with relevant standards and technologies is highly desirable.

\n

Essential Skills and Experience:

\n

  • \nProven track record of creating manual test scripts\n
  • \n

  • \nProven track record of using scripted test automation to improve quality, consistency and coverage within a software development environment.\n
  • \n

  • \nDemonstrable knowledge of creating and managing test automation frameworks.\n
  • \n

  • \nExperience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model.\n
  • \n

  • \nExperience in inputting to and managing VVRM across systems, services and capabilities.\n
  • \n

  • \nWorking in ITEA Teams.\n
  • \n

  • \nBroad technology experience, with demonstrable experience of enterprise capability development (people, process and technology).\n
  • \n

  • \nExperience in ITEA Sampling approaches and techniques.\n
  • \n

  • \nStrong understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.\n
  • \n

  • \nAn understanding of assurance and acceptance processes.\n
  • \n

  • \nTest and Trial script planning experience and test automation.\n

\n\n

Desirable Skills and Experience:

\n

    \n
  • Experience of IBM DOORS and JIRA tools is desirable.
  • \n

  • \nExperience with modelling and simulation technologies, including familiarity with standards such as HLA (High-Level Architecture), DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation), and HLA4.\n
  • \n

  • \nKnowledge of defence or public sector engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.\n
  • \n

  • \nExperience in training transformation or learning platforms.\n
  • \n

  • \nSAFe and ITIL4 certified.\n
  • \n

  • \nKnowledge of the MOD’s GEAR framework.\n
  • \n

  • \nTesting and assurance in a training environment aligned with JSP 822.\n
  • \n

  • \nExperience of programming/scripting languages such as Java, Javascript, Python, Bash.\n
  • \n

  • \nSecurity cleared or ability to obtain (SC or above).\n
