As a Junior Software Test Engineer you will help prove that the products built by an established manufacturer of mission-critical equipment for the aviation and defence sectors perform exactly as they should. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will support integration and testing, help develop and run test plans, and write up the results, while also getting hands-on with the software design and development behind the products and their manufacturing test systems.   • Supporting the Test and Acceptance team with integration and testing of company products
  • Helping to develop and execute test plans, and writing up clear test reports
  • Carrying out software design and development, with guidance, for products and their manufacturing test systems
  • Writing, unit testing and debugging software code
  • Taking part in software code reviews and acting on feedback
  • Producing technical documentation to record how products are built and tested
  • Applying your knowledge to project requirements with regular guidance from senior engineers
  • Putting forward your own ideas as your experience grows
  • Supporting the wider department and its day-to-day activities
Skills and Experience To succeed as a Junior Software Test Engineer you will need:
  • A first or 2:1 degree, or equivalent, in a relevant technical subject
  • Good A Level results in science subjects, with proven competence in maths
  • Some experience of C, C# or C++ programming
  • An appreciation of some of the following: embedded software, development in Windows or Linux, basic network technologies, and Python, HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET, SQL or SNMP
  • A logical approach to problem solving, weighing up the merits of different solutions
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with the team
  • A self-motivated, hands-on and customer-focused attitude
  • The ability to obtain and maintain UK Government security clearance
  • No prior work experience is needed, as full guidance and training are provided
