Lead Enterprise AI Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly established UK energy infrastructure organisation investing heavily in data, analytics and artificial intelligence to support long-term national operations.

This role sits within a central Data, Analytics & AI function and focuses on delivering production-ready AI solutions that are actively used across finance, operations and commercial teams.

The Role

As Lead Enterprise AI Engineer , you will be responsible for taking AI use cases from concept through to live deployment , with a strong focus on intelligent agents, conversational AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) .

You will work primarily with Microsoft Copilot technologies and Databricks , translating complex data and business problems into scalable, governed AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and deploy AI agents and copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Power Platform
  • Develop custom RAG solutions in Databricks enabling LLMs to reason over enterprise data
  • Integrate AI solutions with Dynamics 365, SharePoint and operational systems
  • Own and manage Databricks Genie semantic layers
  • Define and govern metrics, dimensions and logic within Unity Catalog
  • Partner with finance, operations and commercial stakeholders to deliver AI use cases
  • Implement AI monitoring across cost, performance, latency and output quality
  • Ensure strong data governance, security and responsible AI practices
  • Act as a technical AI advocate across the organisation
  • Mentor junior analysts and engineers

Required Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience within the Microsoft / Azure ecosystem (Copilot Studio, Fabric, Power Platform)
  • Commercial experience using Databricks (SQL, Unity Catalog, Mosaic AI, Genie)
  • Practical experience with LLMs, prompt engineering and RAG architectures
  • Advanced Python and SQL
  • Experience integrating systems via REST APIs
  • Strong understanding of semantic modelling and analytics data design
  • Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
