ROLE SUMMARY

I have an exciting long term opportunity for a Contract Business Analyst to work within a premium London Market Insurance client. You will be a core delivery team member for the project to document current-state processes, support process design workshops, manage the standardisation documentation workstream, and coordinate adoption activities across all (re)insurance classes. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role requiring strong analytical rigour, Lloyds insurance market knowledge, and the ability to operate confidently with senior underwriters and class heads.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Document current-state underwriting processes across all classes from submission intake to bind.
  • Support process co-design workshops and capture outputs accurately and comprehensively.
  • Manage the standardisation documentation workstream: process maps, variation registers, data capture standards, and playbooks.
  • Coordinate class-by-class rollout activities and track adoption metrics.
  • Support the optimisation opportunities tracker by documenting use case requirements and business case data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Current State Documentation & Analysis

  • Review existing process documentation, SOPs, system documentation, and MI artefacts at engagement start.
  • Conduct structured interviews and observations with Underwriting Assistants, Underwriters, and Class Heads across all in-scope classes.
  • Produce as-is process maps (L1/L2/L3) for submission-to-triage across all (re)insurance classes, including controlled variation capture.
  • Collect and validate baseline metrics data: submission volumes, triage cycle times, UA administrative effort percentages.

Process Design Support

  • Drive co-design workshops; capture design decisions, open items, and agreed variations in real time.
  • Maintain the class-level variation register - documenting each variation with rationale, class(es) affected, and approval status.
  • Document the minimum data capture standard for intake
  • Produce clean, version-controlled process documentation at each sprint: base process maps, triage models, referral trigger registers.
  • Support the referral and control framework documentation: control checkpoints, trigger thresholds, ownership model.

Rollout Coordination & Adoption

  • Prepare per-class rollout packs: adapted base process, variation summary, intake log template, and triage checklist.
  • Coordinate class scheduling for rollout phases liaising with UW team leads to confirm SME and team availability.
  • Track weekly adoption metrics: process adherence rates, data completeness at intake, triage cycle time against baseline.
  • Maintain the adoption blockers log and coordinate resolution actions with the Change Consultant and class teams.
  • Support training delivery: prepare training materials, manage logistics, record attendance.

Optimisation Opportunities Support

  • Document initial optimisation opportunity candidates identified during standardisation (context, trigger, class affected).
  • Assist in populating functional and technical requirements for each opportunity under direction of the Process SME.
  • Gather and validate business case data inputs - baseline metrics, effort estimates, and benefit quantification inputs.

Programme Governance

  • Attend weekly Programme Working Group meetings and maintain accurate action logs.
  • Update the RAID log with issues, actions, and decisions arising from workshops and daily delivery activity.
  • Produce weekly status summaries for Programme Manager review.
  • Manage the document version control discipline for all engagement artefacts.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 5 years + experience as a Business Analyst in a commercial or specialty insurance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience documenting end-to-end business processes using structured process mapping techniques.
  • Comfortable conducting workshops and stakeholder interviews with senior business users (Underwriters, Class Heads).
  • Strong data collection and analysis skills, able to gather baseline metrics, identify gaps, and present findings clearly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio or equivalent process mapping tool).
  • Experience working on transformation, process improvement, or operating model engagements in a consulting or internal change capacity.
  • Highly organised with strong document management discipline - able to maintain version control across
  • Able to work at pace in a sprint-based delivery model with short feedback loops.
  • Practical understanding of the Lloyd's and London company market operating model - how classes are structured, how submissions flow from broker to underwriter, and how bind and post-bind activities are managed.
  • Understanding of the Lloyd's regulatory environment and how compliance considerations (LIC referrals, sanctions, aggregate management) interact with underwriting processes.
  • Experience working directly with Underwriting Assistants, Underwriters, or Underwriting Operations teams in a London market insurer or Lloyd's managing agent.
