Job Description

Digital Transition Manager - Offshore Services

London | Hybrid |

Contract |

£700-750/day Inside IR35

We are looking for an experienced Digital Transition Manager to lead a complex, multi-region technology and service transition for a global organisation.

This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who has successfully led complex service transitions and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build the plan, drive activity and personally take ownership of getting the transition over the line.

You will lead the transition of a complex digital estate from an incumbent service provider into a new strategic delivery model, working across teams and stakeholders in the UK, Europe, North America and other international locations.

This is not a strategic oversight or Director-level position. We are looking for an experienced Transition Lead / Transition Manager who is delivery-focused, highly organised and comfortable being accountable for the detail as well as the overall outcome.

The Role

You will take ownership of the end-to-end transition, from initial planning and service discovery through to knowledge transfer, operational readiness and final handover into Business as Usual.

You will work across multiple products, platforms, services and business capabilities, coordinating a broad range of technical, operational and delivery teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Define, build and execute the end-to-end transition strategy and plan.
  • Establish clear milestones, dependencies, deliverables and success criteria.
  • Lead service discovery and structured knowledge transfer with the incumbent provider.
  • Coordinate multiple workstreams, squads, suppliers and stakeholders to keep the transition on track.
  • Establish and run effective transition governance, reporting and controls.
  • Own the RAID log, proactively identifying and driving the resolution of risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Drive action tracking and hold stakeholders and suppliers accountable for agreed deliverables.
  • Challenge suppliers and delivery teams where required to ensure transition objectives are met.
  • Establish and monitor operational readiness and service acceptance criteria.
  • Identify gaps in documentation, processes, tooling, resources and knowledge and ensure these are closed before handover.
  • Ensure effective knowledge transfer and validate that receiving teams are genuinely ready to take ownership.
  • Coordinate technical and operational readiness activities across multiple disciplines.
  • Maintain clear and accurate transition reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure services are fully documented, stable and ready for a controlled transition into BAU.
  • Proactively manage issues and dependencies rather than simply reporting them.
  • Coach and support delivery teams to ensure transition activities are understood and delivered effectively.
  • Drive the transition through to successful completion and formal operational handover.

The Environment

You will be coordinating a complex ecosystem of delivery teams and specialists, including Service Managers, Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Analysts, Scrum Masters, PMO, Data Analysts, RPA and API specialists, Power Platform and automation developers, configuration specialists and testing teams.

The successful candidate will therefore need to be highly comfortable working across technology, operations, delivery and business stakeholders, bringing multiple workstreams together around a single transition plan.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate proven experience delivering complex service transitions at scale.

You should have:

  • Strong experience as a Transition Manager, Transition Lead or Service Transition Manager.
  • Proven experience delivering complex IT service, application, development, maintenance and/or support transitions.
  • Experience transitioning services between incumbent and new suppliers, including offshore/nearshore delivery models.
  • Strong experience in knowledge transfer and service discovery.
  • Demonstrable experience building and managing detailed transition plans.
  • Excellent RAID, risk, issue and dependency management skills.
  • Experience establishing and running transition governance and reporting.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple teams, workstreams and suppliers simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • The confidence to challenge suppliers and stakeholders and drive actions through to completion.
  • A highly structured and methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure and maintain momentum when dealing with complex dependencies and competing priorities.
  • Experience taking services through operational readiness, service acceptance and handover into BAU.

Desirable experience

  • Experience within insurance, financial services or another highly regulated environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of complex insurance technology environments and platforms would also be beneficial.
  • Experience of TUPE or similar employee transfer processes would be useful, as would experience working within global delivery and outsourcing models.
  • Relevant qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, ITIL or equivalent are desirable but are not essential.

The person

We are looking for a doer rather than an overseer.

You will be someone who naturally takes ownership, gets into the detail and doesn't wait for problems to resolve themselves. You know how to build a transition plan, establish governance, get the right people around the table, chase actions, identify gaps and keep everyone focused on the end goal.

You'll be comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed delivery levels, but your primary focus will be execution.

If you've successfully taken a complex service transition from incumbent provider → knowledge transfer → operational readiness → successful BAU handover, we'd like to hear from you.
