IT Desktop Support Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship role will provide the opportunity to develop, apply and strengthen your existing skills, knowledge, and experience by way of practical application. Opportunities to gain a broad range of experiences in many aspects of IT Service Support.

Role

  • Learn to record and respond to incoming incidents and service requests within the times specified in the various SLAs negotiated with the council’s user communities.
  • Learn to provide IT technical support for the Council, following corporate procedures and standards.
  • Learn to contribute to the work of the team in the delivery of projects and support as required by the Support Manager or Supervisory Officer.
  • Learn to assist the Desktop Team in configuring laptops, tablets and mobile devices and handing these out to member of staff.
  • Learn to liaise with all IT Teams, Senior Management, Elected Members, Staff and Third Parties to ensure the smooth running of hardware and software.
  • Learn to complete personal and service administration.
  •  Learn to achieve and report on Key Performance Indicators.
  • Learn to assist in ensuring that all asset records are accurately recorded.

Training

  • You will be supported to complete your Level 3 qualification in Information Communication Technician.
  • Students will attend college virtually and this will be block release. 
  • The person will be qualified to work as a fully qualified IT Support Services technician.

Working Week
Shifts will be Monday to Thursday, 9.00am - 5.00pm and Friday, 9.00am - 4.30pm. Shifts will include a 30 minute lunch break.
