What is the role about?

The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a critical role in transforming data into insight that drives performance, decision-making and impact across the RinP Network. You will maintain and develop scalable, secure data architecture and analytics solutions, while owning end-to-end insight projects that investigate business performance, test interventions and forecast future outcomes.

You will be given a high level of autonomy and ownership, empowered to identify business problems, conceptualise projects, deliver analysis, communicate insight clearly and assess real-world impact. The role works closely with BI Analysts, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Analysts and wider operational stakeholders to solve complex business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Insight, Analysis & Project Ownership

  • Take ownership of analytical projects from concept through to delivery and evaluation
  • Independently identify business problems and opportunities for investigation
  • Plan, implement and assess analytical projects that evaluate business operations, performance and interventions
  • Identify the narrative behind performance, outcomes and trends
  • Assess the viability and impact of new implementations and operational changes
  • Forecast and predict performance metrics using models, algorithms and statistical techniques
  • Prepare cohort performance statistics and longitudinal analysis
  • Create compelling, insight-led storytelling reports for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Liaise with stakeholders to share findings and drive action

Data, BI & Modelling

  • Perform data manipulation, mining, validation and transformation across Azure, Snowflake and other data warehouses
  • Design and develop scalable data solutions, pipelines and warehouse structures
  • Build and maintain Power BI data models using Kimball dimensional modelling (fact/dim tables)
  • Develop advanced Power BI solutions using DAX, Power Query and Row Level Security
  • Create clear, engaging and innovative visualisations that enable insight-led decision making
  • Implement governance, access controls and data quality assurance processes
  • Write, test and document data processes and structural changes

Collaboration & Business Support

  • Work closely with BI Analysts to support internal and external reporting requirements
  • Build upon and enhance existing analytical work produced by colleagues
  • Support Data Scientists and Machine Learning Analysts with data preparation and insight context
  • Assist operational teams and senior stakeholders with complex analytical problems
  • Contribute to improving analytical standards, best practice and team capability
  • Support the learning and development of junior analysts

Operational & Reporting Support

  • Provide daily performance reporting and ad-hoc insight as required
  • Support commissioner returns and contractual reporting requirements
  • Provide cover across the Business Intelligence team during peak periods or absence

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Technical

  • Demonstrable experience using Power BI, including DAX and Power Query
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
  • Strong data manipulation, validation and modelling experience
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, macros)
  • Experience building dimensional models (fact/dimension tables)
  • Understanding of data pipelines, data warehousing and cloud platforms (Azure)

Analytical & Insight

  • Proven experience working in an analytics or BI role
  • Ability to independently identify business problems and develop solutions
  • Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to assess impact and performance objectively

Communication & Collaboration

  • Ability to communicate complex analytical insights clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Strong stakeholder management across all levels of the business
  • Experience collaborating within large, multi-disciplinary data teams
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates ownership, integrity and collaboration in line with company values

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with Snowflake scheme design
  • Kimball Modelling / Star Schema experience
  • Experience forecasting or predictive analysis
  • PL-300 certification (completed or near completion)
  • Exposure to Data Factory or similar tooling
