Records Management - Senior Manager

A large Public sector organisation is currently recruiting a Records Management Senior Manager for an initial 6 month contract.

Based in London, they offer hybrid working, typically 3 days office attendance per week.

The rate for this role will be £500 - £550 per day umbrella. (inside IR35)

This role sits within their Data Foundations team within the Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate and is a unique opportunity to help shape their journey toward becoming a relentlessly data-driven organisation, supporting their overall vision.

About the Role

As Senior Manager, you will lead the Records Management (RM) team, overseeing the storage, retrieval, and governance of physical records. You’ll play a key role in enabling compliant Review, Retention and Disposal (RRD) decisions, reducing legacy paper records, and ensuring they achieves value for money in its records management operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of subject matter experts managing physical records across the organisation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess legacy records and apply compliant RRD decisions
  • Produce reports and briefings for governance boards and senior leadership
  • Liaise with Information Asset Owners to ensure records are retained and reviewed in line with national standards
  • Identify and escalate records management risks and issues
  • Oversee performance frameworks and KPIs for the RM team
  • Ensure commercial value and compliance in contracts with third-party storage providers
  • Advocate for data governance and management standards across products and services

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to align team objectives with wider organisational strategy in complex environments
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills across multi-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and simplify complex issues
  • Understanding of UK data-related legislation
