Senior Project Manager

What is the role about?
The Senior Project Manager leads the end-to-end delivery of complex business change and new service implementation projects across the organisation. As the Senior Project Manager, you will be the central point of contact for all implementation activity— leading multiple workstreams, subject matter experts, and commissioners to ensure new contracts launch successfully and perform from day one. You’ll shape project scope and service design, build detailed integrated plans, manage risks and dependencies, and guide teams through pre-implementation, mobilisation, and transition into live service.
Alongside leading projects, you’ll play a key role in strengthening project management capability across the business by championing best practice, supporting the project community, and fostering positive collaborative ways of working.
Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Create, maintain and update project plans/schedules and other quality documentation in line with agree methodologies and best practices e.g. implementation plans, RAAID documents.
- Ensure projects align with commissioning strategies, statutory responsibilities, and regulatory requirements.
- Build a relationship of trust and credibility with commissioners in managing scope, priorities, phasing, and affordability to enable realistic delivery.
- Function as the primary implementation interface between Reed in Partnership and commissioners, ensuring commissioning intentions are translated into deliverable outcomes.
- Responsible for understanding, managing and communicating recommendations to complex stakeholder groups, balancing priorities.
- Own meetings with project workstream stakeholders and hold them to account for progress against their plans and actions.
- Identify capture and respond to emerging risks and potential roadblocks to ensure successful, on time go-live of projects.
- Adopt appropriate project management methods, practices, tools and report against project deliverables and budgets.
- Manage objectives and redeploy people and resources as priorities change.
- Coach and lead teams in line with organisation methodologies and industry best practices.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope/requirements, defining goals and deliverables by working closely with key workstreams and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project status reports, impact assessments, recommendation papers etc.
- Share, train and embed project management best practices e.g.: Waterfall and Agile
- Take the lead in practice events and foster a community of collaboration in developing the Project governance capability and expertise with direct and wider team/professionals.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:
Essential Criteria:
- Experience managing large complex business change/ transformation projects.
- Demonstrable expertise in leading in client facing, commissioner engagement, commercial negotiations and financial management practices.
- In depth knowledge and experience of establishing project governance and quality practices/standards.
- In depth expertise of planning complex projects and planning software (e.g.: MS Project, Primavera, Asana, Project Libre etc...).
- Certification and accreditation from industry standard professional body in project management, (APM, PRINCE2 practitioner, PMI...).
- Strong leadership, negotiating and influencing skills.
- Extensive experience operating in both direct line management and matrix mgmt. environment with Snr Mgmt. and leadership stakeholders.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel; and intermediate knowledge of other MS Office software.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experienced customer and business service focus and attention to detail, with demonstrable experience in business engagement and stakeholder management, TOM, Service design.
- Change Management Practitioner / Prosci practitioner.
- Experience of using and understanding Jira and confluence and Agile reporting.
- Understanding of public sector programmes, UK Welfare to Work Sector and/or Preventative Health agenda.
