IT Support Engineer (12-Month FTC) | £30,000-£40,000

Overview

A manufacturing organisation is seeking an IT Support Engineer to provide on-site technical support across multiple locations. The role focuses on end-user support, hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and supporting operational technology within production and warehouse environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver on-site IT support for users and devices across multiple sites.
• Support PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and connectivity issues.
• Support industrial and warehouse technology, including scanners, label printers, touchscreens, handheld devices, and workstations.
• Configure, deploy, replace, and relocate IT equipment.
• Assist with user onboarding, moves, and leavers processes.
• Maintain asset records, stock levels, and documentation.
• Log and manage incidents and service requests via an ITSM platform.
• Provide local support for IT projects, upgrades, and deployments.
• Escalate infrastructure, application, network, and security issues where appropriate.

Required Experience

• Previous experience in IT support, desktop support, field engineering, or site support.
• Strong hardware troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Good knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft 365, computer hardware, and basic networking.
• Experience using Service Desk/ticketing systems and working within ITIL-based environments.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently across multiple locations.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Desirable

• Experience supporting manufacturing, warehouse, or operational technology environments.
• Exposure to SAP, warehouse scanning devices, industrial printers, or mobile computing equipment.
• Relevant IT qualifications or certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL, etc.).
