IT Project Manager

• Location: Newport, Hybrid (2 days per week onsite)
• Job Type: Full-time
• Salary: £60,000 - £68,000 per annum + 15% bonus

Join our client's dynamic team as an IT Project Manager with a strong background in critical infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who has experience delivering IT solutions specifically for critical infrastructure clients and is skilled in managing projects in a largely outsourced environment. The successful candidate will report directly to the IT Delivery & Commercial Manager and will play a crucial role in initiating and delivering projects within required timelines.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Take ownership of IT projects, ensuring delivery to time and budget.
• Collaborate with IT team colleagues to review business requirements and match them to appropriate solutions.
• Manage external tender selection events with our procurement team as required.
• Support investment sign-off by shaping project business cases with concise summaries, costs, associated risks, timelines, and financial forecasting.
• Implement project management controls to deliver projects on time and within budget, according to contractual agreements such as Time & Materials (T&M) or fixed cost.
• Work closely with IT Business Analysts and key business sponsors and stakeholders to support project definition, planning, and delivery, demonstrating strong governance and progress tracking.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Considerable IT delivery experience, specifically in project and portfolio management, delivering projects of varying complexity.
• Demonstrable financial ownership of projects in various contractual situations.
• Contractual/commercial awareness with experience in devising contracts that enhance supplier delivery.
• Expertise in process and governance design and implementation.
• Strong vendor and customer management skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems.
• Flexibility in terms of role and responsibilities.
• Team player with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Degree-level education.
• Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification.
• Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or equivalent is preferable.
• ITIL experience or qualification is beneficial.
