Accounting Manager (Part-Qualified Accountant)

We are seeking a part-qualified Accountant / Accounting Manager with a strong technical foundation and significant hands-on experience using Xero. This role is ideal for someone currently studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent) and looking to take ownership of core finance processes within a Software (SaaS) and services environment. You will play an essential role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting senior management with reliable financial insights. This role suits someone who values accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.

Day-to-day of the role:

Financial Reporting & Ledger Management

• Prepare accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in line with IFRS standards.
• Manage and maintain the general ledger in Xero, including month-end and year-end close processes.
• Complete monthly reconciliations across key balance sheet accounts (cash, credit cards, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, intercompany, etc.).

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Vendor Payments

• Process vendor payments through Xero and maintain positive supplier relationships.
• Support accounts payable and receivable cycles, ensuring timely payment runs and accurate collections.
• Opportunity to assume ownership of customer invoicing after mastering core responsibilities.

Accruals & Adjustments

• Calculate and book accruals in Excel and Xero (commission, bonus, deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, etc.).

VAT, PAYE, Payroll & Compliance

• Manage VAT and PAYE processes and filings via Xero.
• Support payroll alongside an external payroll advisor.
• Assist external tax advisors with annual tax returns.
• Provide reports and documentation during annual audits.

Financial Planning & Process Improvement

• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting accuracy within Xero.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) actively studying.
• Mandatory experience working within the Software (SaaS) and services industry - applications without this experience will not be considered.
• 3–5 years’ accounting experience in an in-house role.
• Extensive Xero experience (general ledger, VAT/PAYE submissions, vendor payments, payroll support, reporting).
• Strong grounding in accounting principles including journal posting, reconciliations, financial statements, and accruals.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, data manipulation).
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
• Knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, VAT, and PAYE regulations.
• Excellent communication and time-management abilities.
