  • Hybrid with 3 days per week on-site in Warrington
  • £375 per day via Umbrella
  • 4 months initial contract

We are seeking a Packaging Engineer responsible for overseeing all aspects of Application Packaging. This role involves ensuring efficient handling of requests in compliance with agreed SLAs, developing packaging standards, and maintaining compliance with application lifecycle policies. The ideal candidate will work closely with key stakeholders across various departments to enhance packaging processes and maintain high-quality standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support all aspects of application packaging, ensuring requests are handled efficiently and in compliance with SLAs.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders including customers, business champions, project managers, architects, and operational functions to drive efficiencies in package development.
  • Develop and refine packaging standards and processes for both simple and complex packages, ensuring consistency across all physical and virtual Windows desktop devices.
  • Maintain compliance with application lifecycle policy to deploy software in a license-efficient manner.
  • Support team members with complex packaging requirements and manage the end-to-end packaging process.
  • Create and maintain packaging standards for discovery, smoke tests, UAT, and production deployment.
  • Improve package creation efficiencies by collaborating with stakeholders to gather all necessary information and dependencies in advance.
  • Maintain and update the toolset used for packaging and deployment, ensuring alignment with the latest improvements.
  • Direct the team to ensure all packages follow the established process, meet packaging standards, and complete all documentation before release.
  • Provide support and guidance on complex packaging issues and liaise with vendors to optimize product use and resolve issues.
  • Identify and implement improvements in application deployment methodologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in application packaging and deployment within a large-scale environment.
  • Strong understanding of Windows desktop environments, both physical and virtual.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining packaging standards and processes.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders and manage complex projects.
  • Knowledge of licensing compliance and application lifecycle management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to guide strategic and tactical decisions.
