Assistant Accountant

They offer a range of IT services/products, including IT Managed Services, Cloud Solutions, Storage Solutions and professional services.

About the Role

This is a fabulous opportunity for somebody seeking responsibility and a continuation of their career. As well as the Finance duties, you will liaise closely with many other departments working to tight timeframes, whilst producing good quality outputs.

Responsibilities This role requires you to be able to liaise, and build strong internal relationships with, all areas of the business.  You must be able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with senior stakeholders and peers. You must also be very flexible, as this role will evolve and expand over time.

The main responsibilities of this role currently are:

  • Financial transaction processing
  • Sales and Purchase order processing
  • Preparing financial reports in a timely manner
  • Supporting the Finance Controller in entering and manipulating data on the company’s two accounting/finance systems
  • Taking data from the CRM system and entering it into the accounting package – Sage 200
  • Credit control – chasing debtors
  • Supplier liaison – taking calls and emails from suppliers and responding to queries/assisting them
  • Producing miscellaneous documents for management
  • Processing rebates

Skills and Experience Required 

  • Relevant finance and administration experience, supporting an established team.  Experience of performing this role in a small or medium-sized organisation would be desirable
  • Hands-on experience of using accounting Sage 200 (essential)
  • Pro-active and a self-starter.  Calm, yet confident
  • Proven ability to be able to multi-task, whilst working to tight deadlines
  • Good inter-personal skills, an ability to get the best out of peers and motivating them to follow procedures, as well as build relationships with internal business units
  • Excellent telephone manner, very good written and oral communication, with experience of dealing with customers over the telephone
  • Analytical, with a good understanding of reporting / spreadsheets / key documentation production.
