Automation QA Engineer – Playwright – Newcastle

A high-growth SaaS company is hiring for an Automation QA Engineer to join their team. This company are on an exciting growth journey to scale their impact and transform their platform. Their platform supports some of the UK’s most recognisable brands in creating more connected, people-focused workplaces.

As an Automation QA Engineer, you’ll take the lead in building and refining their automated testing capabilities. You’ll be a key player in ensuring their releases are robust, reliable, and ready to scale -helping deliver a seamless experience to our users.

Within this role you will:

  • Create and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and regression layers
  • Embed automated checks into their CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps)
  • Identifying areas for improved coverage and reduced manual testing
  • Support performance and load testing initiatives
  • Collaborate with QA, product, and engineering teams to define testing approaches and success metrics

Skills:

  • 3–5+ years in QA, with a strong focus on automation
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with tools like Playwright, Ghost Inspector, and Postman
  • Solid understanding of version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and testing best practices
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Bonus: Recent manual testing experience

Salary for this role is up to £50K DOE
