Azure Architect

About the Role

A forward-thinking organisation is seeking an experienced Azure Architect to lead its cloud transformation journey. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on re-engineering infrastructure and delivering scalable, secure cloud solutions.

You’ll work closely with application owners, architects, and infrastructure teams to evolve the Azure environment, mentor others, and help shape the future of the organisation’s cloud strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cloud Architecture & Delivery

    • Lead the migration of workloads to Azure, including re-engineering legacy systems.
    • Review and evolve existing Azure Landing Zones and blueprint designs.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to redesign workloads (e.g., SQL) for cloud-native performance.
    • Stand up and manage resource groups, ensuring alignment with architectural design. 
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation

    • Drive adoption of Bicep for IaC across Azure environments.
    • Ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable infrastructure deployments. 
  • Cloud Platform Expertise

    • Act as SME for Azure IaaS, M365, Power Platform, and Dynamics.
    • Support AI and analytics initiatives, including standing up a Data Lake and developing AI bots for internal and client use. 
  • Network & Data Centre Transformation

    • Lead the redesign of network architecture, including VPNs and connectivity to Azure.
    • Oversee the decommissioning of on-prem data centres by migrating workloads to the cloud. 
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring

    • Mentor a 9-person infrastructure team.
    • Share best practices and provide guidance on cloud technologies and operational excellence. 
What We’re Looking For 
  • Experience

    • 5+ years in a similar Azure-focused role.
    • Proven track record of cloud migration and re-engineering projects.
    • Consultancy background with practical delivery experience is a plus. 
  • Skills

    • Deep expertise in Azure IaaS and IaC (especially Bicep).
    • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and workload optimization.
    • Familiarity with IaaS and SaaS platforms and cloud-native services.
    • Experience with AI and analytics projects is a bonus.
