Business Analyst

The London Fire Brigade are looking to recruit a Business Analyst on an interim 3-month basis.

As a Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analysing and shaping strategies, informing the development of delivery plans, and scoping specific transformational initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively across various teams, utilising your research and analytical skills to drive strategic improvements and ensure the Brigade's operations align with its goals.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Analysis and Strategy Development: Analyse the structure, functions, and services within the Brigade to determine operational objectives and suggest strategic improvements.
  • Process Modelling: Utilise business process modelling and other core business analysis techniques to present findings and create strategic and operational improvements.
  • Risk Assessment: Consider opportunities, potential risks, and impacts attached to findings and suggestions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Produce accurate written documentation and presentations to support your work and report findings in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Problem Solving: Identify problems, knowledge gaps, and data discrepancies, recommending solutions to resolve them.
  • Research and Best Practices: Stay updated with industry trends, research papers, and best practices from local and international fire and rescue services, aligning them with the Brigade's strategies.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Lead Business Analysis within the Strategic Planning team, providing expertise and fostering an inclusive working environment with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in a similar role, preferably within a public sector or emergency services environment. Experience in hosting workshops and assisting with delivery.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with a focus on process mapping and identifying efficient solutions.
  • IT Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, and familiar with electronic document management systems.
  • Communication: Excellent oral, written, and presentational skills to effectively communicate data and findings.
  • Project Management: Awareness of project management methodologies like PRINCE2 and Agile.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of business analysis tools such as SWOT and PESTLE
