We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our client’s team in the education technology sector. This role involves identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities with schools, multi-academy trusts (MATs), and local authorities across the UK. This is an ideal position for an ambitious individual who thrives on building long-term relationships and delivering innovative technology solutions to enhance educational outcomes.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop and execute a sales strategy to drive growth across the education market.
 - Identify and engage with new prospects including schools, MATs, and local authorities.
 - Manage the full sales cycle — from lead generation and qualification through to proposal, presentation, and contract close.
 - Build strong relationships with key decision-makers including IT managers, headteachers, and business leaders.
 - Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure solutions meet customer needs and project timelines.
 - Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline activity within CRM systems.
 - Represent the company at education trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events.
 - Keep up to date with sector trends, funding streams, and policy changes affecting school IT procurement.
 - Hunt for business and generate leads through cold and warm calls.
 - Coordinate and provide online customer technical demonstrations.
 - Prepare and deliver e-mail campaigns, working alongside marketing departments.
 - Attend and participate in national exhibitions to promote the company.
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Business Development Manager or similar role in sales, particularly within the education or technology sector.
 - Strong ability to generate leads, engage with clients, and close deals.
 - Excellent listening and communication skills, with a consultative approach to selling.
 - Resilience and the ability to bounce back in the face of rejection.
 - Experience in managing a full sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
 - Proficiency in using CRM systems to track sales activities and client engagement.
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
