Category Lead - ICT Procurement
A public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Category Lead – ICT Procurement to join their Corporate Services Directorate. This is a pivotal role in leading the ICT Category team, managing procurement and contract activities that support the organisation’s technology needs and strategic objectives. You will drive category strategy, oversee complex procurement projects, and ensure compliance with public sector regulations while delivering value for money and mitigating commercial risk.
This is a permanent role based in Central London (hybrid working), with a salary banding of £56,070 to £72,806 (dependant on experience) plus excellent benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ICT category procurement activities from need identification to contract signature.
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Conduct market analysis, stakeholder engagement, and sourcing options to support transformation objectives.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, and risk throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Oversee procurement pipeline planning and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Draft complex contractual documentation, reports, and briefing papers for senior stakeholders.
- Promote Responsible Procurement, equality, diversity, and sustainability in all activities.
- Manage and develop a small team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- MCIPS qualification (or working towards) and commitment to professional development.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.

- Advanced numerical skills for budget management and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of procurement legislation, GDPR, FOI, and Responsible Procurement principles.
