Commercial Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join the Metropolitan Police Service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex technology procurement and sourcing activities, work closely with senior stakeholders, and support the delivery of strategic digital, cloud and AI-related programmes within one of the UK's largest public sector organisations.

Key Details:

  • Contract: Temporary, 6 months
  • Rate: £650 per day (Umbrella)
  • Location: London (NW6)
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
  • Clearance: CTC/NPPV2 required
  • Start Date: ASAP

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex end-to-end technology procurement and sourcing activities
  • Develop sourcing strategies and route-to-market approaches
  • Manage tender processes, supplier evaluations and contract awards
  • Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with suppliers
  • Provide procurement and commercial advice to senior stakeholders
  • Deliver compliant procurements in line with public sector regulations
  • Manage supplier engagement and commercial governance activities
  • Drive value for money, savings and wider commercial benefits
  • Support strategic technology, cloud and digital procurement programmes

Required Experience:

  • Proven end-to-end procurement delivery experience
  • Strong technology sourcing background, including software, cloud, digital and IT services
  • Experience leading procurement activities from market engagement through to contract award
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement regulations, including the Procurement Act 2023
  • Experience using a range of procurement frameworks and routes to market, not solely G-Cloud
  • Excellent supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrable experience delivering commercial value, savings and risk mitigation
  • Ability to manage multiple procurements within a fast-paced environment

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience within Policing, Central Government, Defence or other regulated public sector environments
  • Experience using CCS and other public sector frameworks
  • CIPS, IACCM or equivalent commercial qualifications
  • Experience supporting technology transformation or AI-focused programmes
