My client in the public sector is seeking to enhance its commercial capability by appointing two experienced Commercial Business Partners. These roles are crucial for leading procurement and contract management activities within the department, focusing on a variety of services including Research and Evaluation, Consultancy, Contingent Labour, Grant Administration, and IT solutions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead on complex procurements, ensuring compliance with Public Procurement Regulations and tight timelines.
- Provide expert procurement advice, supporting the Heads of Commercial Operations and Procurement to meet government requirements and manage risks effectively.
- Offer clear commercial advice to senior stakeholders and external parties, fostering an environment conducive to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Manage contract activities, including drafting and implementing Memorandums of Understanding and licenses.
- Ensure consistent commercial policies and procurement processes across the department, contributing to policy and process improvements.
- Represent the Commercial Directorate internally and externally, providing commercial assurance across the department and its bodies.
- Promote department values and oversee professional development within the Commercial team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in public procurement and applying relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to manage risk throughout the commercial lifecycle.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to hold stakeholders accountable and drive value for money.
- Experience in drafting and managing contracts and other formal agreements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of fostering relationships that encourage continuous improvement.
- For the DDaT specific role: Experience in digital goods and services procurement is essential.
