Commissioning Engineer

Key Activities

Site Work

  • Provide complete service of testing, commissioning, and handover of lighting control systems and equipment
  • Deliver client training
  • Deliver training for Commissioning Engineers
  • Offer technical advice to customers and end users
  • Perform routine PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) works
  • Provide reactive aftercare assistance (troubleshooting)
  • Carry out headend installations
  • Conduct fault-finding
  • Configure IP networks including routers, gateways, and user interfaces

Documentation

  • Issue daily Site Attendance Reports (SARs)
  • Issue daily snag reports via Perspective for site attendances
  • Prepare onsite health check reports
  • Prepare remote health check reports
  • Regularly back up databases and upload to Egnyte Server
  • Maintain and update site-specific documentation

Health & Safety

  • Maintain an up-to-date ECS / CSCS Card
  • Complete and stay current with “Flick” training

Other Responsibilities

  • Stay current with training on all new systems and equipment
  • Review systems to ensure optimal combination of products and services in lighting control solutions
  • Identify upgrade and remedial options and report findings to the Key Account Manager
  • Coordinate with office for RMA issues related to damaged or faulty equipment
  • Liaise with Sales/Commissioning Supervisors for additional days or materials quotations
  • Regularly back up and archive project databases and documentation to Egnyte
  • Perform additional duties as required outside of the listed responsibilities
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift and carry a 10 kg backpack daily
  • Able to commute daily
  • Able to stand for several hours at a time
Skills & Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of lighting control systems, including commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues both on-site and remotely
  • Strong attention to detail in preparing and maintaining reports and system backups
  • Effective communication skills for providing technical advice to customers and end users
  • Qualified 18th Edition electrician (preferred)
  • Understanding of DALI protocol
  • Must hold a valid ECS / CSCS Card
  • Experience in configuring IP networks including routers, gateways, and user interfaces
  • Experience with headend installations
  • Ability to assess and integrate optimal products and services for lighting control systems
  • Proven experience in testing, commissioning, and system handover
  • Experience in routine preventative maintenance to ensure long-term system functionality
