Internal Communications Officer/Intranet Manager

We are seeking an experienced Internal Communications Officer/Intranet Manager to join our team. This role is crucial for the successful launch and ongoing management of our new intranet platform. The ideal candidate will complete the intranet content design and build, and ensure the successful rollout of the first phase alongside a roadmap of future enhancements.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and execute the internal communications strategy, including key messaging, communication channels, and tactics.
  • Create and deliver compelling internal communications content such as newsletters, intranet content, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with key organisational stakeholders to ensure all internal communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with our goals and values.
  • Complete the intranet build – designing and managing information architecture and navigation, building templates for content types, and populating with existing content.
  • Apply metadata, tagging, alt text, and cross-links to improve accessibility and search, ensuring the intranet conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA and GDS standards.
  • Upskill content owners to manage and extend their content independently.
  • Develop and implement a roadmap of intranet enhancements by working with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Manage the company’s intranet, ensuring content is up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with the company’s goals.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications and intranet usage, making recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and relevant internal communications.
  • Identify opportunities to promote employee engagement and improve user experience.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong experience with content creation, design, and delivery, including email, newsletters, intranet content, and presentations.
  • Proficiency with CMS platforms, particularly Drupal.
  • Strong understanding of content structure, information architecture, and template creation.
  • Familiarity with GDS and WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • SC Clearance required, or the ability to obtain prior to starting the contract.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, English, Communications, Design, or a related field.
