Data Centre Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer to support a major government data centre exit and infrastructure decommissioning programme.

This is a hands-on role working within live data centre environments, supporting the safe decommissioning and removal of enterprise server, storage and network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Decommission and remove server and storage hardware
• Rack, derack and safely handle data centre equipment
• Trace and disconnect Ethernet, fibre, SAN and power connectivity
• Securely handle HDDs, SSDs and other data-bearing media
• Maintain hardware, asset and CMDB records
• Follow formal change-control and security procedures
• Identify dependencies and escalate issues appropriately

Essential Experience

• Strong hands-on data centre experience
• Server/storage installation and decommissioning
• Rack and stack / deracking
• SAN, Ethernet and fibre connectivity
• Hardware asset management / CMDB
• Experience working within controlled technical environments
• Current SC security clearance
