  • Hours: 37 hours per week (7.4 hours per day, Monday to Friday)

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Data & Claims Assistant to join its Early Years team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative, data management and customer service skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is committed to supporting the delivery of early years funding services.

This temporary role offers the opportunity to develop experience in funding administration, data compliance and partnership working while contributing to services that support children, families and childcare providers across the borough.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and monitor early years funding claims and data submissions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure funding payments are administered correctly and on time.
  • Support childcare providers with funding processes and the effective use of the Early Years Portal.
  • Resolve funding, data submission and payment queries promptly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and validate funding data, identifying and resolving discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with the administration of specialist funding streams, including Disability Access Fund payments and other targeted funding schemes.
  • Organise and support termly audits of childcare providers.
  • Produce reports, management information and funding data to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Update and maintain databases and digital systems, ensuring information is accurate and compliant.
  • Support the collection, analysis and reporting of early years entitlement uptake data.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory funding guidance, data protection legislation and council procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, childcare providers and external partners to support service delivery.

About You

  • Previous experience in administration or data processing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confident using databases, spreadsheets and digital systems.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
